Product information
Description
The Shapton Kuromaku #220 is a coarse ceramic waterstone designed for heavy stock removal. At 220 grit, this stone is the starting point for repairing chipped or damaged edges, reprofiling blade geometry, or establishing a new bevel on a dull knife. It cuts fast and aggressively, making quick work of tasks that would take far too long on a finer stone.
The Kuromaku series is a splash-and-go stone — no soaking required. A quick splash of water is all that is needed before sharpening. The ceramic abrasive is hard-wearing and cuts consistently across the full surface of the stone, maintaining flatness longer than many comparable coarse stones.
Shapton is a Japanese manufacturer based in Shizuoka Prefecture, widely regarded as one of the finest whetstone producers in the world. The Kuromaku series — also known as the Shapton Professional series — is trusted by professional sharpeners and serious home cooks alike for its speed, consistency, and durability.
