Product information

Description

The Shapton Kuromaku #8000 is a high-grit finishing stone designed to bring an edge to a refined, near-mirror polish. At 8000 grit, this stone removes the fine scratches left by a mid-range stone and produces a smooth, polished edge with exceptional sharpness. It is particularly well suited to Japanese knives, where a clean, highly refined edge is often the goal — whether for slicing fish, vegetables, or boneless proteins with precision.
Like all stones in the Kuromaku series, the #8000 requires no soaking. A splash of water activates the surface immediately, and the ceramic abrasive works smoothly and consistently throughout the session. At this grit level, light pressure and deliberate strokes produce the best results.
Shapton is a Japanese manufacturer based in Shizuoka Prefecture, widely regarded as one of the finest whetstone producers in the world. The Kuromaku series — also known as the Shapton Professional series — is trusted by professional sharpeners and serious home cooks alike for its speed, consistency, and durability.
