Sharpening Box Short

A compact, sturdy sharpening box imported from Japan, making a perfectly sized kitchen sharpening station. The small size of this box still provides enough width to access the water, which is not the case with many smaller boxes. I particularly like this box because of its height, as many splash-and-go whetstones don't need a deep well of water for soaking, but this holds just enough for rinsing and splashing. 

Suehiro's Stone Holder fits this box perfectly, and is highly recommended, as it and the box are uniquely sized. Also highly recommended, Hasegawa's 400 x 200mmNon-Slip Mat, which provides a stable, non-slip surface, and fits neatly inside when stored away.

Overall, this sharpening box, coupled with the Stone Holder by Suehiro, makes a sharpening kit that I have been researching for years. When working as a chef, often I would need to quickly setup and sharpen my knives, but the sharpening kits I tried were either too big or too small, requiring space and/or cleanup I wanted to avoid. This box, as well as the Tall Sharpening Box are what I believe to be a solution to this problem. And, with an attractive look, I don't mind storing this in or near my kitchen.
