A specially designed Tawashi brush for cleaning pans, particularly carbon steel and cast iron pans. These scrubbers are made from onige, which is the coarsest and stiffest part of the Palm fiber. So, as most tawashi are a little stiff, these brushes are much stiffer, but work great for scrubbing iron pans and grills.
Indispensable as a brush for scrubbing and cleaning many kitchen items, tawashi are best suited for scrubbing tasks where soap is not used. Tawashi have been used for ages in Japan. It's made from the bark of the Windmill Palm Tree, or Shuro.
The brush includes a convenient hanging loop to ensure it stays dry.
Founded in Tokyo in 1907, Kamenoko Tawashi is the standard for high quality tawashi brushes of varying types. Kamenoko, which means baby turtle, resembles the shape of many tawashi brushes, as it is said to be the reason the company was named such by the first president.
