Iga-Mono's Ohitsu is an artisan crafted ceramic pot, made from the coarse soil of Iga Prefecture, which is quite porous. As a result, this type of ceramic retains and breathes water and moisture, making it ideal for steaming and reheating.
Particular to this ceramic pot, it's intended for use only in a microwave, but it serves many functions. It can be used for:
-Reheating and/or serving rice, as it is functional and attractive.
-Steaming and/or reheating a variety of ingredients. Included is a small, ceramic grate, used as a barrier from the bottom when steaming. You can steam nearly anything you like, including vegetables and seafood. Think of it as a steaming pot for your microwave.
Included in this kit is the bowl, lid, ceramic grate, trivet for serving as well as a small pamphlet that highlights the features of this unique product.
